In June 2012, The Department of Education released the 2011 Gainful Employment Informational Rates that provide the public with information about educational programs that prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation. Beginning in 2012, programs must surpass minimum thresholds for at least one of three metrics – those that don’t will, over time, be subject to penalties including losing eligibility for federal funding.
Since institutions have not had the opportunity to challenge these measures, we welcome institutions to provide additional information to be posted alongside their institution’s Informational Rates by contacting us at ge@collegemeasures.org.

According to the Department of Education, “The 2011 Gainful Employment Informational Rates were prepared to provide institutions with preliminary data about the performance of their GE Programs … and not intended to form a basis for making any general or specific assumptions or determinations about specific GE Programs, or in making projections about future years' rates.” Additionally, the Informational Rates, presented below, did not include a process for institutions to challenge the measures, as the official rates will.

Note that all other metrics include institutions with complete and partial gainful employment data.
